Sarah Mentzer started her career as a student at the University of Akron, graduating in 2002 with a degree in Culinary Arts. After working in a small diner for a year (talk about on the job training!), she moved on to the Hilton Inn West in Fairlawn, Ohio where she worked as a banquet chef for 4 years, preparing meals for Former Vice-President Dick Cheney, Kenny Chesney, numerous NFL football teams, and various other celebrities. Four years ago, she decided to leave the hotel business, and opened Home for Dinner Personal Chef Service. In 2007, she began teaching cooking classes through the Akron Summit County Public Library. Sarah also does catering and has worked with groups like Hower House to cater monthly teas, and private events.

In her personal life, Sarah has been married to Joe, chief-recipe-sampler, for 7 years and mother of Keegan, 19 months old. She grew up and continues to live in the Ellet area, and enjoys reading cookbooks, sewing, and playing with her husband and son.

Classes

*Each class will include a recipe packet and a family-style meal at the end of class. Classes will be a combination of lecture and demonstration with hand-on opportunities for students.

Come learn how to make wonderful soups and stews without having to stand over the stove all day! Learn knife skills, how to use ingredients to their fullest potential, and how to create hearty soups and stews for every meal. Recipes to include Cola Pork Stew, Cheddar Chicken Chowder, Creamy French Onion Soup and more. Includes recipe packet and family style meal.
